Company background

Directors, David and Sue Fish are born and bred dairy farmers and have built Westmorland Estate Ltd over the last three decades enjoying their story as it has unfolded. Having both obtained diplomas in agriculture and worked their way up the dairy farming succession ladder of management to share milking to farm ownership, David and Sue have slowly grown Westmorland Estate Ltd into the award-winning business it is today. In 2014, they were awarded the Dairy Business of the Year award along with many other humbling accolades along the way.

 

Currently, they have three farms, Somerset, Westmorland and Sandhurst as well as maize growing and support land. The hard work and valued relationships created through this life long journey of David and Sue's, continues to drive the success of Westmorland Estate Ltd today. Westmorland Estate Ltd takes pride in the sustainable and ethical way our quality milk is produced and will continue to do so for many years to come.

 

Sue is a graduate of the Myerscough College of Agriculture with a Diploma in Agriculture and a veterinary nursing diploma from the University Waikato. Sue started her New Zealand farming career lower order share milking before managing Somerset farm for numerous seasons. She enjoys the business analytical side of dairy farming and identifying efficiencies and growth opportunities. Sue's core role revolves around building professionalism across the business, people recruitment and all aspects of financial management. Outside of Westmorland Estate Ltd, Sue enjoys swimming, family time and travelling.

 

David is a graduate of the Lincoln University with a Diploma of Agriculture. David began his farming career managing and sharemilking on Somerset farm before farm ownership in 1990. He enjoys the ability to strategically plan and execute projects. David's role is very hands on, operating the cropping programme, soil fertility management. Outside of Westmorland Estate Ltd, David enjoys family time, travel and watching sports.

 

Sue and David have three children all working in the primary industries. Harriet is currently enjoying working for Fonterra, Geraldine is employed in the kiwifruit industry working for East Pack and Aubrey is currently a member of the Westmorland team.
